SUNSHINE STATE YOUNG READER'S AWARD PROGRAM

The Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program (SSYRA) is a statewide reading motivation program for students in grades 3-8.  The program is cosponsored by the School Library Media Services Office of the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME).

Purposes of the SSYRA Program  sunny-a.gif (2339 bytes)

Students in grades 3-5 participate.  Students who read 3 of the books and pass an Accelerated Reader test with 70% or better get to vote for their favorite author the last of March.  Students who read 7 or more books and pass the Accelerated Reader test with an 70% or more will be invited to a Pizza Party in May.   Special prizes will be given.

REMEMBER, A STUDENT NEEDS TO TAKE A TEST WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS AFTER READING A BOOK.  If you read a book during the summer, please review each title before taking a test.  We want to measure comprehension, not memory.
