Our PTA is a vital part of the school program. It serves to unite the efforts of parents and teachers to provide the best education for our children. The PTA membership drive begins with the start of the new school year. Interesting, informative meetings are planned and many programs and fundraisers are sponsored. Their success depends on your support. This year's president is Elaine Munson.

As we finish the school year, I would like to thank you for your continued support of PTA and the programs we sponsor. We are looking for a few volunteers for the following positions on our 2008-2009 board. Please email me at elainejbe@hotmail.com or send a note to the front office if you are interested in helping us!
**VP Membership: This position coordinates our membership drives for both the JBE families and staff, collects dues and reports to the PTA Treasurer. It is busy the first 6-8 weeks of school and then slows down. VP Membership is a 2 year board position and is perfect for someone who has a limited amount of time during the week!
**Hospitality: Purchase desserts/set up during the Student of the Month lunches and purchase dinner/set up for 2 Teacher Conference nights. The desserts and meals are budgeted for and you will not be soliciting for donations!
**Holiday Shop Help: We have a new chairman and are in need of at least 2 volunteers who can work closely with her to coordinate this event. You will need to be available the entire Holiday Shop week which will be in late November/early December. Our students look forward to this event each year and it takes a great deal of volunteers to make holiday shop successful!
Our end of the year Disco is scheduled for May 9. This is a free event, but all students must be accompanied by an adult. NO Drop-offs allowed! Please refer to the flyer sent home for more information.
The Viking Dads will be holding their second annual Golf Tournament on May 17th. Please refer to the flyer sent home for more information. Thank you to all of our Viking Dads for their support of our events this past year. We are looking forward to adding more events with the dads during our 2008-2009 school year.
Over the summer, please continue to collect your Box tops and shop at Target! If you have a Target card, be sure that JBE is listed as your school of choice. The money we receive from Target allows us to continue funding many programs here at JBE!
Thank you again for a wonderful, productive year. All of us on the PTA board are looking forward to working with you during the 2008-2009 school year. Plans are already well under way for events both old and new! We will see you at Open House on Friday, August 15th. Happy Summer!

Ongoing Programs:
Ink Jet Recycling: Send in your inkjet or laser cartridges for the school to recycle. This program allows the school to purchase new cartridges for the teachers.
Box Tops: Send in your box tops from items listed on the flyer sent home. The class with the highest overall participation during the school year will receive a pizza party!
Help Wanted: Junior and High School-aged siblings of JBE students are welcome to earn volunteer hours with the PTA at school dances and events. If interested, please send a note to Tina Engel with your name and phone number.
