MARTIN COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM OFFERS A FEAST OF
SUMMER READING FOR CHILDREN
“Book Feast: All You Can Read” is the 2006 theme for the Florida Library Youth Program (FLYP), and preschool through middle school age kids have a smorgasbord of stories, crafts and prizes waiting for them at Martin County libraries this summer. The Martin County Library System’s exciting summer reading program runs June 5 until school starts again, keeping children reading all summer long.
It begins with a special kick-off presentation at each library Saturday, June 3. Check the Library Connection, the MCLS Web site (www.library.martin.fl.us) or call 221-1403 for a schedule of these great family events.
When you’re there at the library, be sure to stop by Children’s World to pick up a reading log for keeping track of the books you read during the summer. Why? Because you can win prizes, books and even a special library lunchbox! You’ll receive a sticker that goes on an ice cream cone with your name on it in Children’s World for each day you read or listen to a story for more than 20 minutes. The more days you read, the more prizes you win! Here’s how it works:
· Read one day and pick one draw from the treasure chest
· Read five days and win one book and one draw
· Read 10 days, win one draw; 15 days, one book
· Read 20 days and win one book and one draw
· Read 30 days and win one super cool lunchbox (one per child, please)
This reading incentive program ends after you pass 30 days, but of course we hope you keep reading all summer long!
