- In September, we
enjoyed some super fun learning in Social Studies with our unit on Maps
and Globes, and our Science unit on Weather! Johnny Appleseed Day was
filled with apples, reading, writing, and math activities.
- October is Fire
Safety Month. Do you have a fire drill plan for your house? Your child
will be coming home and asking you to make a plan.
- In reading, we
will be studying the plot of a story. You can help with this at home.
When you are reading a story with your child, ask him/her to identify
the main characters, the setting (where the story takes place), the
problem and how the characters solved the problem.
- Facts, Facts,
Facts! In math, we will be continuing in addition and subtraction and
memorizing those addition facts is imperative to become proficient at
addition and subtraction with regrouping. Remind your child that
subtraction is really addition--backwards!
On
October 29, all second grade classes will have fun at our Fall Festival.
Look for a note from your room mom coming home soon for donations that are
needed!
