Welcome to the JBE Media Center WEB page. Our theme this year is: "The Universe is your-READ!" Our commitment is to grow lifelong readers and help students to access the wide world of information available now and in the future. Seventy percent of the jobs our children will have in the future have yet to be invented. They will probably change jobs at least 4 to 5 times over their life span as technology expands faster and faster. Whether reading for information or for fun, we want to give them a foundation in order for them to achieve their future goals. The following are some of the programs we use and offer at JBE.

Try our new WEB based OPEC (Online Personal Electronic Catalog) to view what books we have in our media center. You can also access books by their AR level and points. Go to http://destiny.sbmc.org.

Media Center Policies

Students are welcomed to visit the media center at anytime during the the day for book checkout and return. There is also a scheduled book checkout time once a week for each class. Kindergarten students may check out 1 book at a time. First grade may check out 1 book. Once first graders become Independent Readers they may check out 2 books. Second grade through fifth grade may check out 2 books at a time. Parents are welcome to check out books to read with their children. Extra books for all grades may be checked out for special reports or projects. No overdue fines are charged, but students are responsible for damaged or lost books.

It is funded by the Florida Department of Education and administered by the University of Central Florida. This FREE service accesses information on Florida's education system and goals and has free research resources for students to use at anytime. For a wealth of information and fun, check it out!!!
